A night to compare some classic French wines with selected local alternatives
Award winning chef Ian Curley transports his hatted restaurant “The French Saloon” to the heritage surrounds of Craig’s Royal Hotel for one night only. Featuring French country style dishes from his popular Melbourne restaurant, paired with a carefully curated selection of French and local regional wines with each course, for diners to compare.
Ian’s food is generous and unpretentious, focusing on the quality of the produce, keeping it simple and fresh and taking advantage of the seasonality of produce to create lively and interesting dishes without giving into trends.
Executive Chef of The European Group venues and owner of Kirk’s Wine Bar and the newly opened French Saloon, Ian Curley must be one of the busiest Chef’s in Melbourne. With ten venues, 12 kitchens and multiple menus to oversee, his work is never done. He has even been known to be spotted polishing glasses in the bar if that’s where he is needed!
Ian was born in Coventry, England in 1964. After studying and working in the UK for several years, he moved to Australia in 1988.
Join Ian and the combined team from The French Saloon and Craig’s Royal Hotel for this exciting event as part of the Plate-up Ballarat month of May.
